Many have heard this quote, and must have thought to themselves that the Bard was advocating getting rid of those annoying attorneys. But like most things in life, context must be taken into consideration. The context in this scene involves a pretender to the throne, one who intends to steal the crown though he has no right to claim it. As he and his minions are discussing what they must do in order to seize power and run things the way they want to, including making their new king the judge, jury, and executioner, they realize that in order to subjugate the people they intend to rule and force them to surrender their rights they must first "…kill all the lawyers". For it is the lawyers who are there to protect and preserve the rights of the people, to stand up and advocate on behalf of their clients. It is from this that we at the Folsom Law Offices take our inspiration. While they are your rights to assert, they are our responsibility to protect. Your rights. Our responsibility.
